METROJAYA’S
CHEQUE PRESENTATION OF RM28,000.00
TO “YAYASAN SUNBEAMS HOME”
On
13th March 2007, Metrojaya presented a cheque of RM28,000.00 to
Yayasan Sunbeams Home, one of the named beneficiaries of Metrojaya’s
recent Charity Campaign organized in conjunction with its Christmas
Promotion in December 2006.
Mr Robert Heng, CEO
of Metrojaya Berhad presented a cheque of RM28,000.00 to Pastor Alvin Tan,
the chairman and founder of Yayasan Sunbeams Home at the home's premises
yesterday (13 March 2007) in Taman Mawar, Kuala Lumpur.
Mr Robert Heng, Alice Tan and the rest of us from
A & P shared some really memorable moments with the children from
Yayasan Sunbeams Home. Guests and friends from the media were entertained
by the younger children with a line dance performance and there
was also an entertaining performance by two of the young talented
teenaged boys on voice and guitar. There were three children
who shared their testimonies of how the home had touched & changed
their lives.
Last but not least,
the children, staff and care-takers of the home were treated to a hearty
luncheon sponsored by Metrojaya. Grateful thanks and appreciation to
Metrojaya's business partners, friends & staff who have generously
supported our charity campaigns, and contributed to this meaningful cause.
All your efforts, kindness and good deeds are greatly appreciated by the
beneficiaries/recipients of Metrojaya's charity campaigns. Thank you for
bringing hope and making this world a better place for all these
under-privileged children.
There will be another
cheque presentation of RM28,000.00 to Handicapped Children's Centre Penang
scheduled on 21st March 2007 (Wed) at 11.30 am at the Centre's premises in
Penang. Dato' Ahmad Khairummuzammil bin Mohd Yusoff, Chairman of Metrojaya
Berhad will be presenting the cheque to Y. Bhg. Puan Sri Datin Seri
Raihana bt. H.M. Ibrahim, the President of Handicapped Children's Centre
Penang.
In
cultivating a culture of giving in society, Metrojaya hosted a
Charity Bazaar at the Concourse, LG Floor, Berjaya Times Square during its
Christmas Promotion in December 2006 to raise the funds that are being
given away. An assortment of items on sale at the bazaar included food,
gifts and home items, potted plants along with a range of games and
activities. In addition, Metrojaya posted donation boxes in its
stores at Mid Valley, BB Plaza, Berjaya Times Square and The Curve in
Klang Valley and Plaza Pelangi in Johor Bahru and Island Plaza in Penang
during its Christmas Promotion. Many generous shoppers contributed in this
way whilst going about their festive shopping at Metrojaya.
The
remainder of the funds will be presented to Handicapped Children’s
Centre in Penang and Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Darul Hanan in Johore in the
coming weeks.
Metrojaya’s continuous community projects
Charity
campaigns such as this have been an integral part of Metrojaya‘s
continuous community projects in giving back to society. Metrojaya
maintains an ongoing commitment to developing projects that benefit a
range of non-profit organizations in need of financial support. As these
charities receive help from well-wishers, it is Metrojaya’s desire that,
through the projects that it initiates, funds can be raised to help
support and contribute towards the needs of these organizations.

Yayasan
Sunbeams Home accepts children who are orphaned, abused, neglected,
abandoned and children who come from broken families regardless of
whatever location, background or beliefs they come from. The home’s
vision is to see hungry children provided with food, those who are thirsty
with drink, those who are homeless with shelter and education, those who
are naked with clothes and those who are sick with care and concern.
Currently the home’s need is to raise funds to purchase their own
properties for the boys’ and girls’ homes as they have been using
rented premises since the home was founded in 1995.
